Trust

Okay, I am going to go ahead and show you a little bit more of Trust.

Chapter 1                                                                                           As soon as the school bell rang, the doors were unlocked and all of us students rushed out like a swarm of bees. It was a beautiful and sunny day, but nobody walked home. We all remembered as soon as we exited the building that it was too dangerous to walk. So we climbed into our sceabas and rode home. Even the birds seemed to have ceased their singing and flown away. Why was it so dangerous to walk? There had been a mongoe attack.A mongoe is a large, violent creature, with six stubby horns and a head of a lion and the body of a bee. I got that information from my mom, who has seen three mongoes, I have seen none. Mom saw the mongoes when our enemy, the planet of Samaj, chased them to our planet, Kila, and they ended up at Mom’s family pod. But Grandfather was able to portal the Control Service, who was then able to take care of the mongoes before much damage was done. So that attack was not very severe, but it usually is much worse than that; worse than you can imagine.Hardly anyone has seen a mongoe since we fought most of them off in the war of 2693, which was 63 years ago (right now it is year 2756). But just last week, a woman was attacked by one of the evil beasts near the K.D.C. After that, everyone has been afraid to go outside without the protection of their sceaba’s doors. Also, the school doors have been locked during and after learning hours, to try to prevent the mongoe from getting in easily.I climbed into my sceaba and told my destination to it. Then, with a small jolt, I was heading home. My sceaba is a shiny white; I polish it every week. It is, of course, a perfect circular ball shape, much like my pod, and all sceabas (and pods). The two doors that are on each side of a sceaba are black and very much guaranteed that their locks are super tight and the doors are the sturdiest ever (that is why everyone feels so protected inside them).  The seats inside my sceaba are a jet black color, and are so velvety and soft that I have fallen asleep in them more than once on long trips. There is a violet license plate on the back of my sceaba that has my name on it, Kalina Hshnaw.

Alright, a lot more about Trust. I would like to hear what you think of it on comments!

4th of July Fun

Happy Independence Day!
Two days ago, my family celebrated the U.S.'s birth, and Hershey's 1st birthday. We invited my grandparents for supper and a Fourth of July celebration. We didn't throw a party for Hershey, though : )

I know I this a little to late, but here are some Fourth of July ideas from my mom; maybe you can use them next year.
Here are some photos from the party.

Beautiful place settings

Happy birthday Hershey!!

Here's Grandma Farlow at the table

Mom made red, white, and blue star cookies

Mmmm, dessert

Here are some fun decorations we made

Isn't this cute? It's Mom's 'Watermelon Boat'
We had some fun with pop-its and little confetti things at the end
I felt bad for Hershey when the fireworks started. Most of us were outside doing our pop-its and stuff while the fireworks went off. Often, Hershey would run around with his tail between his legs and he would scratch at the door, but most of the time he would lay on our laps, shaking. Three times when we were opening the door Hershey got inside the house. Poor puppy!

We had a lot of fun on the Fourth of July, and I hope you did, too.

Summer Journals

If you clicked on my Summer of Fun link, you probably saw some summer journals  Well, Mom helped us make journals like those. All you have to do, is buy some normal journals, and decorate them however you want. Carter's is the super hero one, and he didn't put paper over the whole top of his journal, like Tyler and I did. He just glued on the title and super hero (by the way, Mom drew the super hero) and Mom put on the ribbon for his pen.

Tyler's journal is the doggy one; he loves dogs. Mom measured how big the journal was and she drew the size out on paper. Tyler cut out the paper and glued it onto his journal. I did the same thing.
Tyler then glued on the other pictures and stuff and then did his pen and ribbon.
I pretty much did the same thing for my journal. Mine is the lime green one.

How to make the pen ribbon:
To make the kind that Tyler and Carter have, you glue part of the ribbon to the inside of the journal, and then place it along the outside of the journal (do not glue it to the outside) and then stick the end back under into the inside of the journal and glue it in there again. You can hook the pen onto the ribbon.
To make the kind of pen ribbon that I have, you
glue part of the ribbon on the inside, like you did for the other kind, and cut the ribbon to the size you want it to hang down in front. Next, you just tie the end of the ribbon to the cap of your pen, and your done!

Mom said that every day my brothers and I can draw pictures or write about our summer vacation in our journals. We can make a list about things we want to do, or write about things we have done, or things we are going to do. Sometimes Mom is going to ask us a question and ask us to write down the answer in our journals. For example, Mom could ask "If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it", and my brothers and I would write down what we would do with a million dollars.

This summer is going to be fun!

Summer of Fun

Well, Summer is here, and, as a song says, 'the annual problem of our generation, is finding a good way to spend it'.

I made a Summer of Fun reading chart, and made it my goal to read at least 30 chapter books over the summer.

I got the idea for my chart from Mom. You can see her Summer fun post if you click here. She has some really cool ideas.

Another Small Preview on Trust

Here is another preview for my book.
Friday, June 13th, Dad set out in one of K.D.C.’s smaller ships...to our nemesis’ planet. Once he got there, Dad had to put on a microphone to so he could talk with the K.D.C. anywhere he went. He was contacted right before he went into the emperor’s palace...but after that the communication ceased. Dad never came back, and no one heard from him again. They think he was attacked...killed. I was three years old when he disappeared.

Stay tuned!

School is Over!!

Summer, here we come!

Yesterday was the last day of school, and it was fun! On our Field Day, I was-unfourtunately-sick. Mom had bought my brothers and I each our grade shirt that most kids would wear on Field Day, but I didn't get to wear it to school that day. So, hearing it was allowed along with jeans, I wore the shirt on the last day of school. At the very end of the day, everyone was signing shirts and yearbooks. I didn't have my yearbook, but I did get all my friends in my class to sign my shirt. Mrs.Court signed my shirt too, and so did my favorite teacher, Mrs.Conner. Mrs.Conner was switching campuses. : (

A principal award

A homeroom  award

A homeroom award.
A principal award
I also received awards the day before the last (those were called principal awards) and also some homeroom awards on the last day. There are some pictures of them above.

I managed to get all my friend's addresses and some phone numbers.

Oh, and here is our 2012 yearbook. Unfortunately, it includes no pictures or the names of me or my brothers. It seems to have been made before we got into the school five months ago.

Summer is finally here, and school is over. What are we going to do now?

More on "Trust"

Here is the 'sneak peak' for Trust.

 Sneak Peek
…I fell backwards, terrified, landed roughly on the hard ground, and the mongoe drew closer… The mongoe let out a horrible roar and got even nearer to me... Please! I thought desperately. Please help me! I screamed again, and then jerked my arm over my face as the mongoe suddenly lurched forward, teeth bared.
That is in the very front of the book; it is a kind of preview. I will show you another part from the book soon!

P.S.
I know it is short, but there will be more next time.
